I have had the opportunity to travel to Brazil and work on mission projects with Pam on three separate occasions. Missions of Integrity is doing a great work in helping provide the infrastructure needed to spread the gospel in a nation that is ripe for the harvest. I have been impressed with the great administrative stewardship regarding the resources entrusted to them. We have seen changed lives in every mission project we have been involved in, from the children and adults in Brazil to the volunteer workers that returns to the U.S. There is no way to measure the true impact of a mission trip, but I can testify that in every volunteer’s heart a fire is kindled for God’s mission in a lost world. If you are interested in impacting the world for the sake of the gospel in a meaningful way or renewing your walk through service, I would suggest you consider the mission opportunities provided by Missions of Integrity and consider supporting this ministry in a tangible way.

Participating in the mission trip to Brazil is one of the most enriching and fulfilling experiences of my almost-58 years on God’s earth. Dr. Pamela Kitchens and the great MOI team lead us through a careful and prayerful preparatory process spanning over 18 months. It was a proven comprehensive process (this was Pam’s 39th chapel + ~ 10 other related structures) that walked us through all aspects from the call to go, sharing the blessing through fundraising, acquiring passports and visas, what to bring for all ministries including tools, medicines, sports equipment, eye glasses, etc., and how to pack them to pass easily through customs. Take it from an off-the-scale admin guy – it was all very well done with no fluff or waste anywhere in the process. All aspects of the ministry screamed “good stewardship”.
As I look back at the pictures I am still amazed at the miracles God did in just 5 days on-site. That He would use mostly unskilled people like us to build a turn-key chapel fully painted and trimmed and complete with pulpit and Lord’s Supper table in just 5 days still defies my comprehension. I am further confounded by how He simultaneously used almost half our team to reach out to people on another continent and from another culture far more effectively than we are able to at home. When is the last time a group of less than 50 believers (total including interpreters, Brazilian volunteers and those working on the building) were used of God at home to lead over 146 souls to the Lord in a week? I can only conclude that this was a God-ordained modern day miracle, and I am blessed beyond words to have been a small part of it.
I believe God would have me share future experiences like this with my precious bride of almost 33 years, our children and grandchildren as soon as they are old enough. Experiencing a modern-day miracle of God is part of the legacy I desire to leave for future generations. |

How do you measure the evidence of the Lord's hand of blessing on a person or ministry? It is not always accurate to look at numbers, but frequently that can be a good indication of God working in and through a person. I truly believe God's hand is on Pam Kitchens and Missions of Integrity. Project after project and year after year we see hundreds of people's lives impacted for eternity by the ministry of Missions of Integrity. It was no different this year during the June 16-25 project in Porto Seguro, Brazil. There were over 450 salvation decisions and hundreds of other people who had their physical and spiritual needs ministered to. God is indeed touching the needy people of Brazil using Pam and MOI, and I was again blessed to witness and be part of this work this year.

One Wednesday night in the fall of 2005, Pam Kitchens came to our church and introduce MOI to our church and told of her experiences with the Brazilian people and the need for volunteers to come and minister to the people in Brazil. As a young girl, in GA’s I had always heard my grandmother talk to us about missionaries and I always thought maybe one day I could go on a mission trip, but never really thought I would ever have the opportunity to go. Well, when Pam finished talking to our church that night I almost ran to the front of the church to meet her and said to her that my daughter Haley and I would like to be the first ones on the list to go and at that moment I never had second thoughts of not going.
I was going to use my gift of cutting hair. I thought that all I would do is cut hair maybe two days and do some construction work the rest of the week, well I ended up cutting hair all week and loved every minute of it. Even though I could not speak their language just seeing their smiles when they received that new hair cut really touched the center of my heart and gave me a peace that I was right where God wanted me to be. God gave me the strength everyday to cut around 40 hair cuts a day, and not even have a back ache at night and I was ready to go again the next day.
It was the greatest experience that I have ever had in my life and I can't wait to go and serve again when God gives me that peace of knowing that I am suppose to leave my daily routine and follow His call to serve.
Thank you so much Pam for sharing your heart with Haley and me and giving us the opportunity to go and share. May God Bless you and MOI for all the things that you do for His work.

My experience with Missions of Integrity began in 2000 as I was drawn to Pam Kitchens through her passion for missions, and from having been to Romania in 1998. My eldest son and I went with some 25 other folks to Brazil in 2000. Our objective was to build a mission church in the community of Itaperuna. On arrival, I remember seeing a 25 x 45 foot slab of poured concrete, blocks and timbers lying all around, and lots of smiling faces to greet us. I remember thinking that this would be almost impossible to complete with this group of lay people having virtually no experience in the field of construction.
To my amazement, four and ½ days later the painted structure was complete with pews, pulpit, communion table, stained glass windows, lights, ceiling fans and enough people to fill it to standing room only. Folks were hanging inside the windows to see and hear about the Lord. This structure became a house of the Lord that very night as it was covered with prayers, Bible verses written on the roof rafters and under the pews, and many tears of praise. I will never lose the feeling and to this day and this very moment I tear up with the joy experienced. I think so often, some six years later of the folks that have been taught of Jesus and led to salvation in this facility that we all had the opportunity to give to the people there. Shortly after returning Pam asked that I become a board member for this mission and I have served with her since that time.
In 2005 I was able to take my whole family on a project again. This time the objective being to add four rooms onto a day care adjacent to a community church in Montes Claros. Without question the first day of work on this project was one of the most arduous of my life. We literally carried concrete up a ramp two stories to overlay a roof with over ten yards of concrete veneer prior to the construction of its truss roof. This was done with 4-gallon paint buckets in a fire line. We accomplished the job in one day with the help of most of the men of our team and many Brazilian workers eager to get the job done. The people there loved us all such that there simply was no real overwhelming fatigue to speak of. The next day or so we lay blocks to make the four rooms to be used in educating the children there. Pam realized then that our team was ahead of schedule and was able to procure the materials for us to build the entire roof in about a day and a half. The team members all chipped in to buy these materials as this was an unplanned and non- budgeted event. Extensive evangelism, Bible school, and glasses ministry was done by my wife, youngest son, and other members of the team while the construction was under way. What a joy to see another facility completed. One to be used by the Lord to bring children to Himself.

One Sunday as Pam Kitchens shared her testimony and what God was doing through Missions of Integrity, I felt God telling me to do more than just help support this ministry financially. I knew God was moving in my heart and telling me to go to Brazil with one of Pam’s teams. However, being in my upper 40's, and having become quite comfortable in my life, I almost missed out on this tremendous blessing. But later that month, as I held my first grandbaby in my arms and thought of all the advantages he would have in his life, I remembered Pam speaking of the people in Brazil and how so many were hurting and needed Christ in their lives. I knew then that God was once again telling me to go to Brumadinho, Brazil. What I did not realize at that time, was how it was going to change my life and my desires.
I was worried about the language barrier, but quickly found out that a smile is a universal language. On the trip, I had the opportunity to work with the children each day. And each day, as they learned songs and heard stories about a Savior who loves them, I was amazed at how happy these children could be in the midst of their poverty. I remember laughing as they tried to help me communicate with them. At times, I would have to turn away to wipe a tear as my heart was breaking for them. I couldn’t help but wonder what might happen to them in few years.
The impact that the ministry of MOI had on this community was overwhelming. It was a humbling experience to be used by God in such a way. I wish everyone were able to go and see how God is working in the world around us through a ministry such as MOI. It WILL change your life. It changed mine!

God blessed me in 2005 with the opportunity to go to Brazil with Missions of Integrity, and to work side by side with Pam Kitchens as she fulfills God’s calling in the mission field. It overwhelms me to see how God lays out a path for us as we make such trips to share the Gospel and minister to those in need. It is reassuring to see the Holy Spirit guide your every circumstance, and you truly feel in your heart that you are doing what God asks all of us to do –… go make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit… Matthew 28:18-20.
I realized how easy it is to minister and witness to complete strangers, in a far away place, and to share God’s love with them. I saw a group of people who have so very little, yet who are so thankful for the provisions they have. They are an open, hospitable, loving people and many are in need of Jesus Christ. It was humbling to see people standing in a long line waiting to receive an eye exam, see a doctor, or simply to get a hair cut, and knowing that before they received any of these ministries, they would first hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
This was my first mission trip, and not my last. God has laid it on my heart to go out into the harvest field. There is no greater joy in serving the Lord than to go out into the world and share the Gospel--to lead a young girl, or an elderly man, or a divorced mother to Christ. And to use the talents and gifts God has given me to drive nails or lay some blocks in the construction of a new church. If you feel God pulling at your heart to support the mission’s effort, then I encourage you to do so. If not physically, you can answer with prayer for our missionaries and with financial support of Pam and the Missions of Integrity team in their efforts to reach the world! God Bless!
